Responsible for providing ongoing support of all systems in support of internal and external applications including security. The Systems Administrator will evaluate and recommend solutions; plan and execute implementation. The scope of these tasks will include ensuring proper use, configuration, and management of hardware, operating systems and applications with the objective of providing robust and stable operating platforms. Develop, monitor, and enforce security policies. Ensure proper controls are designed into systems. Monitor emerging threats and assess risks. Apply O.S. patches and upgrades. Position will also support teaching technology in labs and classrooms, and may also provide support and troubleshooting assistance for faculty, staff, and student users. Requires Associates degree plus two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Programming skills using VB Script, MS SQL, and other languages are required in support of appropriate systems management assignments. The Systems Administrator must be familiar with standard privacy, security, communications, and systems management protocols. This is a fixed-term appointment funded through June 30, 2010 with excellent possibility of re-funding.
