Job burnout as a result of multiple jobs is common, and it happens for a variety of reasons. If your second job is too similar to your primary work, you may feel as though you work on the same projects non-stop. If the jobs are too dissimilar you may feel pulled in several directions at once, unable to focus on one set of tasks for very long. Balancing work and life itself is a skill that needs to be developed with the help of some scheduling tricks you can do to keep your first and second Philly job manageable.
Try putting your two jobs on a schedule that lets one complement the other when possible. If you have an unpredictable schedule, try anticipating your busiest or most stressful days of the week and schedule your second job around those times. It’s never a good idea to consistently work seven days per week, but if you know a particular day is busier than the rest, schedule one day off from your second job around this day. Don’t burn the candle at both ends. On days where you must work both jobs, try to schedule yourself a few hours of downtime between gigs—your body will appreciate the rest.
